What are you doing New Year's Eve?

This video has been making its viral way around the interwebs the past couple of days. If you're a Zooey and/or Joseph fan (and maybe even if you're not), you'll love this sweet rendition.

When I first viewed it on YouTube, the comment directly under the video said, "Just marry each other already" and I laughed out loud. Their doomed romance in 500 Days of Summer kind of sealed them as indie sweethearts, and I agree that they'd be lovely together. But even if that doesn't come to pass, I appreciate their chemistry.

I'm not always a fan of the rhyming ditties, but this one just struck a chord when I saw it today... Pretty much covers the gamut of most years for most of us!

What can be said in New Year rhymes,
That's not been said a thousand times?
The new years come, the old years go,
We know we dream, we dream we know.
We rise up laughing with the light,
We lie down weeping with the night.
We hug the world until it stings,
We curse it then and sigh for wings.
We live, we love, we woo, we wed,
We wreathe our prides, we sheet our dead.
We laugh, we weep, we hope, we fear,
And that's the burden of a year.
-Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Husband and I are off to dinner and a movie, nice and quiet, we two... What are you up to tonight? I hope that whatever your New Year's Eve brings, when you wake (happy and healthy, please) tomorrow, you're filled with the possibility that 2012 brings.

And tomorrow, recaps and resolutions! Happy New Year's to you and yours.

  1. We listened to Timothy Keller DVD that you made for us... went for an enjoyable hike to Edith Point. Shirley made burgers for supper with blueberry wine... and we had a few chocolates with an apple after. We watched another episode of "Lie to Me" as we ate... really enjoying it.

I worked until 8 pm making shelves in our new pantry and then thought..." this is New Years Eve, good grief!"

So I dragged Shirley away from her computer and we watched a movie in bed.. silly Peter Sellers in The Party. We tried to stay awake to see the New Year in... but sleep took over shortly after 11 pm.

I loved your little You Tube "What are you doing New Year's Ever" and now you know what we did.
