Happy Groundhog Day!

The interwebnets are all abuzz with the news that Punxsutawney Phil DID see his shadow this morning, and apparently in this new media world, he texted his findings: shadow--check; six more weeks of winter--check.

According to Phil's entry in Wikipedia: "Of... 113 predictions on record so far, Punxsutawney Phil has predicted an early spring 14 times (13%). As to his accuracy, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club Inner Circle, he is 100% accurate. However, according to the StormFax Weather Almanac and records kept since 1887, Phil's predictions have been correct just 39% of the time." Hmmm. That Inner Circle thing seems a wee bit suspect.

So in honor of this sad development, which we don't believe for one second, here's a clip from Groundhog Day, featuring the ever-lovely Ned Ryerson.

That bit where Bill steps off the sidewalk into the puddle repeatedly is just classic. Reminds me of all the times where I think I've learned something, only to need to learn it again. And again.

We have sunshine in our little corner of the world, everyone is mending more and more each day from our colds, and I am dreaming of sweet potato fries for lunch. It's gonna be a good day! Phil can go stick it.

  1. Yeah for sunshine! And so glad everyone is getting better.

Groundhog Day is one of my favorite movies. I watch it every time I run across it on TV. There's something so fun about watching him get to the place where he finally gives up and decides to think of others instead of himself.

  2. I agree...Phil can go stick it!!!

Have you spent much time trying to pronouce the word verification word?
